As many have you have noticed, the Omanternity blog, forum, and wiki have suffered a fatal error in which all of our original files and databases were deleted. We have attempted to recover as much of the old assets as possible, and we believe to have recovered it to the last day before the failure. We still may notice some missing data or other irregularities which we hope to resolve soon.

We also realize that the website have been a little slow as of late. This because we are committed to bringing other innovative assets and projects that we hope will finish soon so that we could return some of the focus back to the blog, forum, and wiki.

The Red Bull Car Park Drift Qualifier 2011 took place in Oman on Thursday, the 2nd of June 2011 to announce the best drifter in the country to participate in the final challenge that will take place in Beirut in July.
The challenge this year was held in the parking lot next to The Wave and it saw an impressive improvement than last year’s qualifying challenge.

Rumor has it that the well-known Belgian chocolate brand is coming to Oman very soon. The rumor suggests that the 1st branch to open will only sell chocolate while the other, bigger, branch will include the coffee shop as well.

Oman Air, the national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman, has extended its special ‘International Student Fares’ into the New Year for Omani students between the ages of 12 and 25 who are enrolled in a full-time educational institution. This value added offer will allow students to benefit from reduced fares up to 25% on both domestic and international flights to any of the Airline’s 41 destinations across the globe.

Expatriates employed in the private sector in Oman who wish to bring their families on residence visas must have a minimum salary of 300 Omani rials per month, according to new guidelines.

The new rule came into force at the beginning of the year. The move, newspaper reports said, was part of efforts to streamline civil status standards in the country, according to our sister newspaper Gulf Daily News.

Royal Jet, the Abu Dhabi-based international luxury flight services company, chaired by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, has yesterday announced the appointment of Qurum Business Group as the Oman general sales agent for the private charter and other services.
In recognition of service excellence, Royal Jet has been voted the world’s leading private jet charter by the World Travel Awards for four consecutive years. The company has also achieved other accolades including Business Jet Provider of the Year 2010, which was awarded at the Aviation Business Awards ceremony in Dubai. Royal Jet has also been awarded the Middle East’s Leading Private Jet Charter for three consecutive years since 2008.
