Qurum Commercial District development plan

Muscat municipality recently completed the technical designs and specifications for the development of the Qurum Commercial District, and parts of the wadi crossing the district. The project aims to turn the area and make it a landmark attracting tourists and businesses with its varied features combining the pleasure of shopping and family entertainment within a modern, comfortable and lovely environment.

The project includes various elements, including a public plaza in the middle of the commercial district. The plaza will have pathways for pedestrians, large network of pedestrian crossings and one main pedestrian bridge connecting between Al Oreimi and CCC malls across the wadi. The project also includes maintenance and repair for both sides of the wadi, complete with resting areas, coffee shops and other amenities suitable for all the family members.

I've heard about this long time ago & I'm reaaally excited for it now that's happening!

Really smart plan, love love loving the development that Muscat's getting into .Though I wonder how all of this is going to work when it's situated in a huge wadi?

^^if im not mistaken, the wadi (wadi 3dai) runs across one route in qurm (where all the bridges are being built at the moment).
i knw the area between ccc and khamis plaza is fillled with water, but thats not from a previous wadi. that water is a result of excavations that have been carried out there (for the ongoing bridges project). mashallah that area is filled with underground water.. dig 1-2 meters and it fills up!! its a pitty that the municipality dont knw what to do with it (they asked for the water to be dispensed over there -between ccc and khamis plaza- and just stay there!!) ... that being said, water does get accumulated there too when it rains, but a new water network study is being conducted so drainage wouldn't be a problem in the future.

Project wise, i think its great!

No starting & finishing date stated, yeah? I'm sure it's gonna take them ages until they can actually prep the whole thing to start with & loads of $$$ too :P.

LOL.. I'd like to see what will happen when the next Juno hits that area. (LA SAMA7 ALLAH *before I get shot*), bes seriously? A little rain in town and that wadi floods almost immediately, I really hope that they've looked at this from all angles.
