The members who were banned up to date are those who broke common sense rules (Spreading false rumors about member's personal life?) and after being warned about what they are doing, we don't ban members out of the blue.
The rules are to be published soon, & I'm totally with you that it should have been posted way back.

There are rules. They're just not written down for anyone to see.
1- Use a common common sense
There, I wrote one for you.

^ lol, I'm not sure that's a good enough excuse for not publishing your rules. especially since you guys are very familiar with forums and have a good idea of how things usually go.
common sense is not enough, common sense to southern Indians means you can marry your eldest sister's daughter.
just because you find it commonly sensible doesn't mean everyone else does.
anyhow, nobody has wrecked havoc in here yet, so it's not THAT much of a big deal.
hope to see the rules up soon =)

Exactly. Common sense is subjective so you can't just assume everyone will think the way you moderators do! Can you get caught by the police for something that's not within the rules? It's unfair to those who were banned, given infractions, etc to be honest.

Excuse me, but 't common sense is completely not subjective. It's common in all people. Says it right there, first word in the box, Common. BAM !
The other thing that I think needs to be said is that I don't think of Omanternity as a democracy. If it were, then I think it would be fair to say that people who got banned for doing something wrong, without there being a published 'code' of sorts have been wronged, but it's not. I find this notion of forum democracy completely laughable, yet however a genuine expectation. I don't think there has been any advertisement of us wanting to do that, and so adjust your opinons accordingly.
That said. Don't be stupid a lot, and no one will bother you.
If everyone's interested in setting up the rules that I wrote as authority, with all it's excessiveness, amiguity, and slippery slopes, then Wolf Doll & Bling simply could. But I'm rooting for you guys, because I love you guys, and you'll thank me one day.

first of all, common sense is misnamed. it should be called common opinion. it would make more 'sense' that way.
secondly, the "common sense" you're referring to is gained through experience. so unless you expect all the members here (and all the members who're gonna join in the future) to have 'forum experience', or been to 'forum school' then yeah sure.. no need for rules.
"is common sense really common? is it subjective?" is an ancient argument. I've been through this a million times before. ma feeni bare'6 el 9ara7a (not bothered to go through it again), it's your forum. you do whatever you want with it. =)

I believe that:
1> There should be a set of forum rules as mentioned by the members.
2> There is no argument that Banning was done after members' extreme actions.
3> No member was banned without prior warning.

Good point, there should be a thread listing all the rules in it.
But all the members who are banned at the moment knows that they will be banned soon and are basically asking for it, cause they all got previous warnings and all that.
